Hyde won Saturday’s Cheshire derby with a hard fought victory over Altrincham.
Scott Spencer scored 2 magnificent goals as Hyde maintained their 100 per cent record and built a 2-point lead at the top of the table.
They started the brighter and took the lead on 11 minutes with a well worked free-kick, which was dummied to Spencer who sent the ball flying past Stuart Coburn.
Spencer had another chance when he weaved his way through but was stopped by an excellent last ditch tackle from Ryan Brown.
Altrincham responded with former Stalybridge and Morecambe striker Michael Twiss firing horribly wide from a good position.
Altrincham did equalise from a corner when Hyde were down to 10 men with Joel Richardson off the field for treatment.
As a result, there was a gap at the far post where former Tiger Mark Lees nodded in unmarked at the back post
Altrincham dominated the latter stages of the first half and Damian Reeves had the chance to put them ahead, but headed just wide.
Hyde came out of the blocks brightly after the break and Spencer put them back in front by curling an exquisite shot into the top corner, giving Coburn no chance.
Altrincham responded as Twiss shot horribly wide, while Reeves headed off target before seeing another effort saved by David Carnell.
After that, the sting went out of Altrincham and Hyde should have increased their lead with Adam Birchall and Mike Whitwell having shots saved, but in the end, they comfortably saw out the game
