Gary Lowe’s new-look Hyde team got off to a winning start but had to do it the hard way after playing for 10 men for the last half hour.
They started nervously and Matt Birley should have put the visitors ahead, but shot wide when through on goal.
Shortly afterwards, Hyde took the lead against the run of play.
Good build-up play found Matthew Berkeley, whose cross from the right found Ryan Crowther at the back post to tuck the ball away.
The lead was increased 10 minutes later when Scott Spencer was brought down by Dormand and he tucked away the resultant penalty.
Another penalty arrived on half-time when Hyde’s Brett Renshaw blocked a shot with his hand, but Dave Carnell easily saved Mike Symons’s spot kick.
The ‘keeper then produced a wonder save at the start of the second half to deny Danny Edwards, while at the other end, Crowther and Spencer both had chances to increase the lead.
The game then turned as Renshaw received a second yellow card and Symons immediately halved the deficit, heading home.
Berkeley nearly added a third when he hit the post, but despite late Worcester pressure, they couldn’t force an equaliser.
