Hyde fell to their second straight league defeat of the season at the Shay and their second in Yorkshire in 4 days On another day the result could have gone the other way, and certanly they have played worse this season and won.

It was Hyde who had most of the possession early on, but it was Halifax who opened the scoring with the first attack on either goal after 10 minutes. Callum Byrne got dispossessed and some neat football let in midfielder James Marwood who finished well.

After 18 minutes it was 2 – 0 when some poor marking on the edge of the area led to Simon Garner firing in.

Hyde nearly responded quickly as Ryan Crowther went around the ‘keeper but Tom Baker cleared off the line. Gianluca Havern then had a goal ruled out for offside.

Adam Griffin fired just over as Hyde looked to be getting their way back into the game and, to their credit, were still playing some good football but were just lacking that end product to trouble Phil Senior, though Senior had to push a Crowther shot away.

Hyde were dominating possesion but amazingly Halifax made it 3-0 with only their third shot on target as they broke forward and, despite Carnell’s best efforts, the ball trickled in.

Hyde came out quickly in the second half and Crowther again showed great feet as his shot crashed back off the post. Crowther did pull a goal back less than a minute later as the home side allowed him to run and fire in from 25 yards.

James Dean nearly responded at the other end but Carnell saved well.

Havern then had another goal ruled out and at the other end Dean had 2 bites at the cherry, but his second shot was well saved again by Carnell.

Hyde did pull one back with the last kick of the game as an Adam Griffin shot deflected in off James Dean’s head, but it was too little to late for the Tigers.
