Scott Spencer v Bradford PA © Six Tame SidesBradford (Park Avenue) caused an upset as they pulled off the shock of the round, beating Blue Square Bet North league leaders Hyde.

In the first half it was Bradford who created the best of the limited half chances with Mark Hotte stinging the palms of David Carnell.

Hyde threatened rarely, but the one real time they did Ryan Crowther’s driving run was well cleared by James Riley.

Richard Marshall had the best chance of the half when he skipped past Joel Richardson but shot weakly at Carnell.

Hyde came out slightly brighter in the second half and Scott Spencer had a shot straight at John Lamb when he had better options in the middle. Adam Griffin then had a swerving shot which Lamb held well.

The home side were then reduced to 10 men when Chris Worsley, who had come on as a half time substitute, received his second yellow card.

As expected, Bradford started to believe they could win the game. Aiden Savory had a superb chance but put a free header at the back post wide after a hanging cross from captain Rob O’Brien.

Substitute Billy Law then thought he had won it after he ran through and rounded Carnell. His shot trickled towards goal but Griffin got back to stop the ball on the line.

However, the game was won in the dying minutes as Tom Greaves followed up after Carnell had denied Law.
