Hyde dropped points at Ewen Fields for the first time this season as they were held by a well organised and hard working Nuneaton side.
It was the Tigers who had the first real chance of the game when Matthew Berkeley was sent through, but his effort was smothered by Collett.
Nuneaton responded with chances from James Armson and on-loan striker Danny Mitchley and deservedly took the lead when the ball was lost midfield and Kevin Thornton was sent through to round David Carnell and slot home.
Berkeley could have equalised straight from the kick-off but Collett again saved well and then produced a flying save to deny a long range Callum Byrne effort. Collett was having a great game and looked to have prevented the equaliser when he saved brilliantly from Scott Spencer, but the rebound fell to Ryan Crowther who neatly tucked the ball home between the 2 defenders on the line.
Hyde could have gone in at half-time in the lead but a lovely flowing moved ended with Ryan Crowther firing just over.
Hyde came out for the second half on the front foot but Nuneaton defended stoutly, though they were nearly undone as Berkeley had another chance but fired just wide.
Adam Griffin got in down the left but, again, Collett saved smartly. The ‘keeper was then nearly left red-faced when he tried to prevent a corner, but the ball slipped from his grasp, Berkeley seized on it and unselfishly squared it for Spencer who, with the goal at his mercy, had his shot brilliantly blocked on the line by Gareth Dean.
In a rare second half Nuneaton attack, Danny Glover’s turn and shot was tipped round the post by Carnell. Berkeley nearly snatched it at the death after a scramble in the box but it was Collett again who somehow tipped it over.
Despite the draw Hyde still remain top of the Blue Square Bet North on goal difference.
