Hyde began their preparation for life in the Blue Square Bet Premier with a feisty draw at Rhyl’s Belle Vue ground.
On a sunny afternoon in north Wales, it was an entertaining first half and Danny Hughes forced an early save out of away custodian Ashley Frith.
Hyde took the lead on 18 minutes when Franny Atta opened the scoring for Hyde after running through and slipping the ball coolly past a stranded Louie Mackin in the home goal.
Rhyl nearly equalised moments later when Jones’s shot from the edge of the area clipped the bar via a deflection with Frith scrambling.
Matt Horn played a good through ball for Atta who nearly added a second, but his shot trickled inches wide.
With a host of substitutions at half time the flow of the game became disrupted, but energetic Frenchman Stephan Le Cefel then twisted and turned but his shot was well saved by the home ‘keeper.
Rhyl equalised with the last kick of the game when Matty Woodward strode forward from defence and hit a 30-yarder past Frith.
Hyde manager Scott McNiven declared himself satisfied with the work out ahead of next week’s derby with Stalybridge Celtic.
